First historical informations about the city can be found starting the 14th century. The heart of the city can be considered one of the most valuable conservation areas, for which the city was put on the UNESCO heritage list in the year 1992. Its dominant piece is a renaissance mansion, jewish graveyard and sinagoge. Yearly one can visit a musical festival “Vacation in Telč”.
